Exercising at home can be a struggle. Without the process of packing your gym bag and going to the gym it can be difficult to motivate yourself.
Especially with our modern day distractions of the latest series on Netflix and that comfy sofa.
So how do we keep ourselves motivated to exercise at home?

So how do we keep ourselves motivated to exercise at home?
1 - Morning Exercise
There is a lot of evidence that suggests exercising early gives you more energy and focus throughout the day.
Get your workout gear ready the night before and as soon as that alarm goes off jump up get changed and get moving.
You’ll feel great all day knowing that you have completed your workout and once you start getting up earlier as a routine you’ll notice a real increase in your energy levels.

2 - Get some awesome workout gear
Don’t let your lack of workout gear get you down!
Stock up on 5 pairs of everything that you need shorts, tops etc. It’ll become a no brainer for you and make sure that you don’t have an excuse.
You’ll also feel better for having better gear and more likely to exercise.

3 - Share Online
Share your goals on Facebook - it might take some guts, but you’ll be surprised by the amount of support that you’ll get from friends; some of whom might be looking for that inspiration themselves.
If you’re not happy about sharing online then find an accountability partner that you can text or message to after your workouts sharing how it went.
Keeping each other accountable by making sure you are both exercising and not taking excuses can help you both. You can also share articles and progress to keep each other going.

4 - Enter a charity race
Having this kind of goal where you are raising money for charity is great at getting you going when there is no one else around.
Thinking about having to perform on the day will give you just the right kind of pressure for you to workout alone.
Also thinking about the cause that the charity supports will help you push through and be consistent with your training.

5 - Get yourself a mantra
Print out on A4/A3 a mantra to help you exercise everyday:
“I will exercise 20 mins a day”
Overtime this will become part of you and you will become someone who is a daily exerciser. Repeat this to yourself and mean it!

6 - Avoid all or nothing
When it comes to fitness a little everyday is a lot better for you than a once a week blow out when you go too hard and then don’t exercise any other day.
Give yourself smaller targets and take chunks rather than big bites that your body can’t handle.
Remember doing something everyday a workout, stretching, cross training a sport little and often.

7 - Figure out what you enjoy
Fitness is not one size fits all. So figure out what you enjoy and what gives you results; this will keep you motivated.
Enjoying your exercise is possible and giving yourself micro targets in achieving types of exercise can be a great motivator.
